The Clarets will play against newly-promoted Bundesliga side Hannover 96 at Turf Moor in their final pre-season friendly.
Hannover, who clinched an instant return to Germany’s top flight by finishing second in Bundesliga 2 last season, will visit on Saturday, 5 August (kick-off 3pm).
The fixture – the repeat of a friendly staged in the old West Germany between the two clubs in 1966 – will be Burnley’s last warm-up game before the Premier League season starts the following weekend.
There is still one fixture to be confirmed in the Clarets’ pre-season programme with another home game pencilled in for Tuesday 1, August.
The visit will also be Hannover’s last friendly fixture before the German domestic season kicks off on the weekend beginning 12 August.
The ‘Reds’ – managed since March by former player and ex-Germany under-21 international Andre Breitenreiter – also visited England at the corresponding stage last summer and won 3-2 at Norwich City.
That pre-empted a successful season for the twice former German champions, who won the Bundesliga title in 1938 and 1954.
In more recent times, Hannover finished fourth in the Bundesliga in 2010/11, earning them a place in the Europa League and a run to the quarter-finals where they lost to Atletico Madrid.
The club from the Lower Saxonby region of Germany also qualified for the Europa League in 2011/12, reaching the round of 32.
Burnley last faced German opposition in pre-season during summer training trips to Austria in 2004 and 2005.
And the Clarets’ last competitive fixtures against German sides came in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup with ties against Eintracht Frankfurt in 1967 and Stuttgart the season before.
Ticket prices and details for the fixture at Turf Moor will be announced at a later date.
